Meet Hugo, February's Ookkie Hero!
We spoke to mother, Amelia to learn a bit more about Hugo's journey with the Ookkie and his experience learning to skateboard. Here's what they had to say.
What was your reason for getting an Ookkie?
Hugo was given an Ookkie for his first Christmas. He had started walking at 10 months old, and quickly started climbing everything also. I knew I had to find a solution to keeping him physically and cognitively stimulated, considering he was too young to join any physical activity based groups where we are.
Describe the learning experience on the Ookkie for us.
Hugo was instantly drawn to the Ookkie. It was like he knew instantly what to do- he jumped on and that was that. He's started pushing the Ookkie through the house when he wants to go for a skate.
Do you get any comments when you're out and about riding the board?
I've had people comment that he looks too small to even be walking, let alone shredding on a skateboard. He is quite petite, so people are very surprised at his confidence. Most people have never seen anything like it and want one for their child!
How has the Ookkie helped your little one in their development?
I've noticed a big improvement in his confidence, he wasn't a massive fan of riding things with wheels, but now he rides anything and everything with ease.
How has the Ookkie become a part of your family life and routine?
We spend a lot more time outside, Hugo loves skating up and down the driveway and taking short rides to the duck pond thats just down the road.
